Intervenciones de enfermería para el manejo de la ansiedad preoperatoria en el paciente pediátrico

Introducción: La ansiedad preoperatoria en el paciente pediátrico tiene una alta prevalencia, afectando de manera negativa al proceso perioperatorio del menor, aumentando la posibilidad de complicaciones y provocando un mal control del dolor.
Objetivos: Conocer las intervenciones existentes para reducir la ansiedad preoperatoria en el paciente pediátrico, estudiar la eficacia de estas e identificar los factores que influyen en la misma.
Metodología: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica en tres reconocidas bases de datos entre los meses de noviembre y diciembre de 2022, utilizando como ecuación de búsqueda: (intervention) AND (preoperative anxiety) AND (children OR pediatric). Los estudios elegidos pasaron la escala de calidad metodológica adecuada.
Resultados: Se incluyeron 21 ensayos clínicos. Estos demuestran que intervenciones como el uso de realidad virtual, la pintura, los videojuegos y/o juegos interactivos, entre otros, pueden ser útiles para reducir la ansiedad preoperatoria pediátrica; mientras que la musicoterapia o dar información mediante cómics no demuestran una clara eficacia. La edad del infante, su nivel de desarrollo y su previa experiencia con el entorno hospitalario influye en la eficacia de estas intervenciones.
Conclusión: Intervenciones que supongan alto nivel de distracción, que aporten información y ayuden al niño a familiarizarse con el entorno, son las más efectivas para reducir la ansiedad en este tipo de pacientes, siendo la realidad virtual la que mayor eficacia ha demostrado en los últimos estudios. Además, tener en cuenta las características de cada paciente resulta crucial para la elección de estas intervenciones y conseguir la mayor eficacia.
