Efectos del consumo de pornografía en la salud mental de los adolescentes: una revisión bibliográfica

Introducción: En la era digital actual, el acceso a la pornografía se ha incrementado, lo que ha llevado a varios Gobiernos a regular el acceso de los menores a este contenido. Esta revisión bibliográfica explora la relación entre el consumo de pornografía y los problemas de salud mental en adolescentes, con el fin de sintetizar la evidencia y orientar futuras políticas públicas.
Métodos: Se realizó una revisión de la literatura siguiendo la metodología PRISMA. La búsqueda bibliográfica se llevó a cabo en bases de datos como PubMed, Scopus, Embase, WoS y CINAHL. Se incluyeron artículos publicados entre 2019 y 2024.
Resultados: De los 236 artículos identificados, 10 estudios fueron finalmente incluidos en la revisión. Los hallazgos revelan una asociación significativa entre la exposición a la pornografía y un aumento en síntomas depresivos, ansiedad, y comportamientos sexuales de riesgo. También se observaron variaciones según el género y el contexto cultural.
Conclusiones: La visualización de pornografía tiene un efecto negativo en la salud mental de los adolescentes, especialmente cuando la exposición a dicho contenido es de forma intencional. Futuras investigaciones deberían continuar explorando los mecanismos neurofisiológicos de la adicción a la pornografía, nuevas formas de diagnóstico y mecanismos para mitigar el sesgo de reporte. Es crucial desarrollar programas de educación sexual que permitan a los adolescentes manejar de forma segura la exposición a este tipo de contenido y revisar políticas públicas.
